Nehra’s injury threw plans off track, says Warner

David Warner did what David Warner does best, but a target of 228 was beyond the single-handed reach of the Australian batsman. The Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper, back by choice at his favoured opening position, smashed a 25-ball 58 but couldn’t prevent his team from slumping to a 45-run loss to Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Tuesday (April 12) night.Warner had a particularly tricky task handling his bowling resources against the marauding Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Sarfaraz Khan, especially so when Ashish Nehra was forced to leave the field with a groin strain. Nehra, easily one of India’s best Twenty20 International bowlers in the last two and a half months, could bowl only 2.1 overs and hobbled off early in the 11th over, forcing Warner to revisit his strategies.
